Learning to Code... Sort of!

Here I am week 2 of classes, still expecting everything to be a little slow, and my digital media teacher gives us a project. I'm think to myself "alright, I love a good project", I was wrong. Not only have I never coded, I don't even know what any of the code words, or whatever its called, even mean.

I was at work and since I wasn't really doing anything I decided I was going to try to work on my code again. I spent 5 hours at work alone trying a thousand different things that didn't work. I started watching all of these tutorials on youtube that made zero sense, but I just copied what they did. I literally sat there and would pause the video and type out every single character the person used. 'context.fillStyle ();' I still am not really sure what that means, but I think you can change the color with it. A guy at work walked past my cubicle and goes "Are you coding?" I sat there for a minute thinking to myself 'No I am watching a Netflix show.' Like, HELLO, yes I am coding don't you see me over here pulling my hair out and scratching my head. Anyways, after that he proceeded to ask me "What language are they having you use?" I dead- ass thought he was joking, I'm like, "English, LOL." He says "no, what code language are you using?" I looked at him and said "I don't even know what I am typing, stop trying to confuse me with trick questions." Well, forty minutes later Google told me that there are different 'languages' of coding. How would I have ever known that I was using HTML5, let alone that it was a language?! I just clicked on the links the professor posted and starting surfing Youtube for tutorials.
